Anti-Aging - Vitality Check-up
In industrialized nations, most people today have a significantly longer life expectancy than in previous generations. The desire to maintain a good physical and mental condition, also in older years, is quite understandable. For this reason, Anti-Aging Medicine is becoming more and more meaningful for those advancing in age to remain fully active, both physically and cognitively. Through an appropriate therapy using orthomolecular supplements, this goal can be realistically fostered.
A micronutrient supplement therapy based on corresponding laboratory diagnostics makes possible a targeted individualized therapy. Laboratory testing is the best precondition for early recognition of deficiencies. Orthomolecular substances have various effects: improving energy metabolism and immunocompetence, enhancing cardiovascular function, osteoporosis prevention, maintaining or improving mood balance and the brain's productive capacity. The concentration of hormones, influencing biological and mental fitness, decreases with age. Here too, a selective supplementation with micronutrients can be beneficial.
The Anti-Aging-Vitality Check-up is an encompassing laboratory analysis through which the risk factors for early aging may be identified. This makes possible a selective individualized therapy with micro-nutrients, hormones, or medications to counter early aging and to prolong youthfulness for as long as possible.
Individualized supplementation of micro nutrients, hormones or selected drugs
helps to counteract aging related effects.

Metabolic Parameters
Gamma GT, GOT and GPT are important enzymes to assess liver metabolism.
High Total Cholesterol and elevated LDL concentrations are risk factors for arteriosclerosis. HDL protects against hardening of the arteries.
Excessive Uric Acid is a risk factor for angina pectoris and heart attack.
The parameters Ferritin and hs-CRP are indicators of inflammatory activity.
BNP concentration in the blood correlates well to weakness in the heart muscle.
The level of creatinine in the blood is a good measure of the functionality of the kidneys.
HbA1c is a reliable parameter of the glucose level in blood and therefore suitable for long term monitoring the effectiveness of blood sugar controllers. It is the so-called “memory of glucose level of the red blood cells”.
The HOMA calculations gives an estimate for resistance to insulin and for the function of the insulin secreting beta cells of the pancreas.

Hormones
TSH, fT3 and fT4 are known in clinical medicine as parameters of the thyroid function; thyroid hypo- or hyperfunction may accelerate aging-related processes.
Cortisol is an important metabolic and stress hormone. Chronic high levels of cortisol can cause obesity and osteoporosis, impair wound healing, cause thin or fragile skin, etc.
Renin is a hormone produced by the kidney. Together with angiotensin and aldosterone, it regulates bodily fluid balance and blood pressure.
The sex hormones Estradiol, FSH, LH and Testosterone play an important role in body shape, tight body tissue, physical activity and memory.
The sex hormone binds globulin (SHBG) and is the most important transport protein for testosterone and estrogen.
Dehydroepiandrosterone (-sulfate) is an important precursor of female and male sex hormones and is the hormone with the highest concentration in blood. DHEAS levels decrease with age and as the ratio of cortisol to DHEAS increases, so does the risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.
Somatomedin C is the most reliable parameter to assess the function of the growth hormone STH. A low concentration may accelerate aging and have a negative effect on muscle metabolism, bone metabolism, the cardiovascular system and the psyche.
Melatonin is a hormone synthesized by the pineal gland and it plays an important role in regulating the biological rythm. Melatonin is also a very effective antioxidant for the central nervous system.

Micronutrients
The amino acid Arginine regulates the diameter of the blood vessels and thereby the blood flow. It is also important for the immune system.
Cysteine is important for detoxification performed by the liver as well as its antioxidant capacity. Cysteine is needed for a healthy skin and the vitality of the hair and nails.
Glutamine is an essential nutrient for immunocompetent cells and for cells of the gastrointestinal tract.
Glycine is necessary for detoxification performed by the liver and is also an important neurotransmitter.
Lysine is essential for bone metabolism. Decreased levels of lysine reduce stress tolerance.
Methionine is necessary for the detoxification efficiency of the liver as well as the production of various neurotransmitters.
Tryptophan is vital for a good disposition and regu-lates appetite.
A low level of Tyrosine can lead to exhaustion and fatigue.
Taurine is a molecule providing numerous protective functions for the cardiovascular system. It improves liver metabolism, stimulates the immune system and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent.

Vitamins
Vitamin E is the most important lipid soluble antioxidant. It has anti-inflammatory properties, stimulates the immune system and works to protect the blood vessels.
Vitamin C is an important water-soluble antioxidant; it improves both immune system effectiveness and tolerance to stress as well as providing protection against cardiovascular diseases. It is essential for the production of many hormones and neurotransmitters.
Vitamin D is not only important for bone structure; vitamin D deficiency increases the risk of autoimmune diseases, heart failure, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, cancer, diabetes, etc.
Biotin is an important vitamin for regulating blood glucose levels, for fat metabolism and for healthy, beautiful skin as well as strong hair and nails.
Vitamin A is a prerequisite for normal cell growth of the skin and mucous membranes and is necessary for the function of the sensory organs.
The micronutrients Cartinine and Coenzyme Q10 are important for energy generation in the cells and thereby body fitness.

Electrolytes, Minerals, Heavy Metals
Magnesium is the essential anti-stress mineral and important for energy metabolism.
Selenium is an important anti-oxidative trace element and protects the body from damaging environmental influences, among other things.
Zinc is required by various organ systems such as skin, immune system, liver metabolism, gas exchange in the lungs, wound healing, etc.
Excessive concentrations of heavy metals like Mercury, Lead and Aluminium cause damage primarily in the cardiovascular system, the immune system and the nervous system. Heavy metals have a negative impact on enzyme functions and promote the release of free radicals.
Orthomolecular substances have various effects: improvement of energy supply, strengthening of the immune system, enhancement of cardiovascular function, prevention of osteoporosis, keeping a balanced mood and positive effects on neuro-function.
